Restoration of Cloth and Paper Bound Books

Please note that this course is best undertaken by those who have had some practice in binding books as it will be assumed that participants are familiar with the details of elementary bookbinding. Topics for the course will be selected from the following :

Replacing spines
Resewing split books
Paper repair
"Lumbecking" a paper-back and putting it into a hard case
Repairing "bumped" corners
Dealing with bookplates
Refurbishing cloth and decorated paper, etc.
Other suitable topics

Time and Place

This is a weekend two day course running from 9am to 4pm. It is held at 110 Andrew Ave., Tarragindi (Cnr. Bramston St) - (Bus Route 112 - Stop 40). See the What's On page for actual dates of planned courses.

Fees

The fee for the course for members is $100.

What to bring

You are asked to bring your normal bookbinding tools, lunch and a selection of cloth or paper-bound books to work on that need some of the above repairs. Others can be provided if you don’t have any. Materials will be provided as far as possible if you do not have your own.
